Dahlsens Building Centres Pty is seeking a Detailer for our Wagga Wagga Truss & Frame plant. You will read plans, design timber components and prepare details for manufacturing using Pryda Build Design software, ensuring accuracy and timely delivery.

Qualifications

• Trade background in carpentry, building, or timber or relevant tertiary qualification.
• Experience with CAD software.
• Experience as a Detailer using Pryda Build Design or similar software.
• Knowledge of Australian Standards AS/NZS (preferred).
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Able to multitask and meet deadlines.
• Clear communication with engineers, site supervisors and customers.
• Self-driven team player with initiative.

As a Detailer at our Wagga Wagga Truss & Frame manufacturing plant, you will have a focused task in preparing accurate designs of timber components including wall frames and roof trusses using engineered Pryda Build Design software. You will read residential building plans, drawings and specifications, carry out measurements and calculations, and design timber components that are prepped for manufacturing on the plant floor.

Reporting to the Branch Manager, you will at times liaise with engineers, site supervisors and customers to discuss job specifics. You will understand the product, construction techniques on building sites, and the construction techniques used in our plant, and discuss suitable alternatives with customers where appropriate. Your leader will provide coaching and guidance throughout to help you excel in the role.

This is a detail-focused, technical role that suits someone with a trade or tertiary background, strong CAD skills, and the ability to juggle multiple detailing jobs while consistently hitting deadlines.

RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE

• Accurate and timely detailing of truss and frame drawings prepped for manufacturing
• Designing timber components using engineered Pryda Build Design software
• Reading plans, drawings and specifications for residential buildings
• Carrying out measurements and calculations, and taking off material quantities
• Preparing sketches and drawings from supplied plans
• Applying wood and timber knowledge to detailing decisions
• Liaising with engineers, site supervisors and customers to discuss job specifics
• Providing technical support and advice to current and potential customers
• Problem solving and resolving on-site issues when required
• Meeting and exceeding plant detailing requirements set by the Branch Manager
• Reporting hazards, near misses and incidents promptly via Donesafe
• Living the 'Our Circle of Care' principles – See, Say, Listen, Stop – and looking out for the safety of yourself, your team, our customers and the community

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

• Trade background (carpentry, building, timber) or tertiary qualification in a related discipline (preferred)
• Experience with CAD software (preferred)
• Previous experience as a Detailer using Pryda Build Design or similar engineered software (preferred)
• Knowledge of the building industry and relevant Australian Standards (AS/NZS) (preferred)
• Knowledge of engineering and drawing programs
• Highly organised with strong attention to detail and the ability to multitask
• Ability to adapt to shifting priorities, demands and timelines
• Comfortable working autonomously and as part of a team
• Strong mathematical and problem-solving skills, with proven ability to deliver to deadlines
• Clear and effective communication skills, with the ability to liaise with engineers, site supervisors and customers
• A self-driven team player who uses initiative to solve problems and takes ownership every day
