Job summary

First Homebuilders Pty is seeking an experienced Estimator to manage and maintain the company price file for WA residential builds. You will monitor margins, prepare accurate estimates, tenders and scopes for new designs and variations, and report cost trends to the Building Manager.

You will collaborate with sales, building and administration teams to keep pricing consistent, analyze large data sets and spreadsheets, and drive continuous improvement of estimating systems.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years' estimating experience with a volume or project home builder.
• Experience with price file or cost database management.
• Proven track record monitoring cost movements and protecting margin.
• Excellent analytical skills and ability to work with large data sets and spreadsheets.
• Sound knowledge of residential construction methods, trades, materials and costs in WA.
• Strong attention to detail and commercial judgement.
• Clear communication and ability to hold a firm pricing line.
• Experience with Truth Engine estimating software is highly regarded.
• Relevant trade, building or quantity surveying qualifications are desirable, but experience counts most.

Responsibilities

• Manage and maintain the company price file, keeping rates, allowances and specifications accurate and up to date.
• Monitor price erosion and margin leakage across the build program, and act before it reaches signed contracts.
• Continually analyse and recommend the pricing required to protect margin, and track cost movements against what we have sold.
• Prepare accurate estimates, tenders and scopes for new designs, variations and construction methods.
• Compare estimated costs to actual job costs, and feed findings back into the price file.
• Report regularly to the Building Manager on cost trends, risks and pricing recommendations.
• Work closely with the sales, building and administration teams to keep pricing consistent across the business.
• Support continuous improvement of estimating systems, processes and data.
