Job summary

ThompsonCook invites applications for a Sustainability Reporting Lead based in Melbourne. The role focuses on broad ESG reporting, climate risk assessment and embedding sustainability into business planning within a large ASX 100 organisation.

Key duties include leading disclosures, managing emissions reporting, developing climate risk models, and partnering with Finance, Risk and regional teams to strengthen reporting controls and data integrity.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in accounting, finance, environment or related field.
• Proven experience in financial reporting and ESG disclosure.
• Knowledge of Australian sustainability reporting standards and international frameworks.
• Experience coordinating external assurance and strengthening data integrity.
• Experience with ESG datasets and financial modelling.
• Strong stakeholder management across finance, risk, strategy and operations.

Responsibilities

• Lead annual sustainability disclosures compliant with AASB S2 and other standards.
• Oversee Scope 1-3 emissions reporting, data integrity and external assurance.
• Develop financial models to assess climate related risks and opportunities.
• Partner with Finance, Risk and strategy teams to embed ESG into planning.
• Act as the key sustainability reporting contact point for external advisors.

The Challenge

This role offers broad exposure across sustainability reporting, climate risk and ESG strategy, with the opportunity to strengthen reporting frameworks and influence business decision making across a large, complex organisation. Key responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

• Lead annual sustainability disclosures, ensuring compliance with AASB S2 and relevant international requirements.
• Oversee Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions reporting, data integrity and external assurance.
• Develop financial models to assess climate related risks and opportunities.
• Partner with Finance, Risk, Strategy and regional teams to strengthen ESG reporting and embed sustainability into business planning.
• Support planning and strategic decision making and overseeing the assessment of climate risks and opportunities
• Act as the key sustainability reporting contact point to external advisors

The Expertise

Please consider expressing interest in this position if you possess the following:

• Tertiary qualification in accounting (ideally CA qualified), finance, environment, sustainability, and/or social sciences
• Proven experience in financial reporting and a strong understanding of sustainability reporting, climate disclosure or ESG
• Knowledge of AASB S2, relevant accounting standards and evolving Australian and international sustainability reporting requirements
• Proven ability to manage external assurance processes and strengthen reporting controls, governance and data integrity.
• Experience with ESG related datasets and financial modelling
• Strong stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to influence and collaborate across finance, risk, strategy and operations
• Commercially minded, analytical and proactive, with the ability to translate complex information into practical insights and drive continuous improvement
• Professional accounting qualifications are preferred, however candidates with relevant sustainability reporting experience will also be considered
