ESG Consultant – Climate & Sustainability Reporting
We’re seeking an experienced ESG Consultant to help an organisation strengthen its climate and sustainability reporting capability.
Working closely with the CFO and broader finance team, you’ll turn sustainability and operational data into accurate, controlled and audit-ready disclosures. This is a hands‑on opportunity to shape reporting processes, improve data quality and connect climate-related risks to financial planning.
You’ll work across Finance, Sustainability, Risk, Data and Procurement to prepare for Australian mandatory climate reporting requirements, including AASB S2.
Your responsibilities will include:
Assessing reporting readiness and identifying gaps in data, systems, governance and controls.
Building sustainability reporting processes with clear ownership, validation and audit trails.
Improving Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions reporting, including supplier and procurement data.
Connecting climate-related risks to financial forecasts, capital expenditure and risk management.
Preparing documentation and supporting evidence for external assurance.
Supporting reporting to the CFO, Audit & Risk Committee and Board.
You’ll bring practical experience in ESG, sustainability or climate reporting, with strong exposure to finance and assurance. Your background may include Big 4 advisory or audit, financial reporting, finance transformation, or sustainability reporting within a large corporate or government organisation.
We’re looking for:
Knowledge of AASB S2 and/or IFRS S2 and Australian mandatory climate reporting requirements.
Experience with emissions reporting, climate-related financial disclosures and climate scenario analysis.
Strong skills in ESG data collection, validation, governance and reporting controls.
Experience preparing reporting for audit or external assurance.
The ability to work confidently with senior finance stakeholders, auditors and operational data owners.
A hands‑on approach to turning complex requirements into practical reporting processes.
CA or CPA qualifications would be highly regarded. Experience with ESG reporting platforms, ERP/EPM systems, Power BI or sustainability data tools would also be advantageous.
Take ownership of meaningful reporting improvements, work directly with senior finance leaders and help build a sustainability reporting process that stands up to external scrutiny.
