Job summary

Boeing Defence Australia is seeking an Equipment & Tooling Maintenance Technician at our new Wellcamp facility in Toowoomba, QLD. You will maintain tooling and equipment, oversee inventory, support production, and work autonomously within a matrix organization.

Ideal candidates will have 2+ years in aviation or manufacturing maintenance, knowledge of tooling management, and strong problem-solving with stakeholder collaboration.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years experience as a fitter/machinist or maintenance fitter.
  • 2+ years experience in aviation, manufacturing or maintenance environment.
  • Strong knowledge of tooling maintenance and asset management strategies.
  • Experience working in a large matrix organization.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing production processes, regulations and safety standards.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Experience translating operational requirements into deliverables with stakeholders.
  • Proficiency with inventory management systems is highly regarded.
  • Experience with tool control systems, kitting and calibration programs is highly regarded.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in implementing and maintaining Equipment & Tooling management strategies to optimize production operations and safety.
  • Oversee and carry out maintenance and repair of Equipment & Tooling across the facility.
  • Coordinate with Production Leads and engineering teams to identify facility needs and implement changes for Tooling.
  • Manage receipting, inspections, storage and inventory for tooling and consumables.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections and audits to identify hazards and implement corrective measures.
  • Collaborate with safety and compliance teams to meet aviation regulations and standards.
  • Carry out regular servicing and housekeeping to optimize asset efficiency.

Equipment & Tooling Maintenance Technician

Boeing Defence Australia is hiring a Tooling & Equipment Maintenance Technician at our new production facility at Wellcamp Airport, Toowoomba. This role requires strong maintenance skills, technical expertise, and a deep understanding of inventory management and production processes. The Equipment & Tooling Maintenance Technician will ensure that equipment and tooling are maintained to the highest standards, meet regulatory requirements, and support efficient and safe production operations whilst minimizing disruptions to the production lines. Reporting to the Equipment & Tooling Maintenance Lead, this individual will be a trusted self-starter that can operate autonomously in a matrix environment.

Responsibilities
  • Assist in implementing and maintaining our Equipment & Tooling management strategies and procedures to optimize production operations and ensure a safe and efficient working environment.
  • Oversee and carry out the maintenance and repair of Equipment & Tooling across the facility
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders, such as Production Leads and engineering teams, to identify facility needs and implement necessary changes or upgrades for Tooling.
  • Manage receipting, inspections, storage and inventory management for all tooling and consumables
  • Conduct regular safety inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and implement corrective measures.
  • Collaborate with the safety and compliance teams to ensure adherence to all relevant aviation regulations, industry standards, and company policies.
  • Carry out regular servicing and housekeeping routines to optimize asset efficiency/ reliability
Experience/Qualifications
  • Fitter & Machinist/Maintenance fitter (2+ years' experience)
  • 2+ years' experience in an aviation, manufacturing or maintenance environment.
  • Strong general maintenance knowledge for tooling and understanding of preventative maintenance and asset management strategies
  • Experience working in a large matrix organization
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing production processes, regulations, and safety standards
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making
  • Experience dealing with key stakeholders and translating operational requirements into actionable deliverables
  • Proficient with Inventory management systems highly regarded
  • Experience with tool control systems, kitting and calibration programs highly regarded
