Job summary

Guzman y Gomez Mexican Kitchen is seeking an Equipment & Facilities Manager to be the first escalation point for state issues, partnering with Operations Managers to restore restaurant operations quickly.

You will manage contractors, control repair and maintenance spend, track trends, and influence replacement decisions to reduce downtime and OPEX across the state. This role requires a trade qualification or degree in a related field and willingness to travel.

Qualifications

• Trade qualification or Diploma, or degree in Engineering, Maintenance, Operations Management or related field.
• Experience in facilities, equipment, asset or repairs and maintenance management, ideally in QSR or foodservice.
• Strong knowledge of equipment maintenance and safety regulations; knowledge of commercial kitchen equipment is advantageous.
• Excellent negotiation and supplier management skills, with commercial awareness.
• Experience using preventative maintenance and inventory management software.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to juggle multiple jobs and deadlines.
• Excellent communication skills, a current driver's licence and willingness to travel within your state.

Responsibilities

• Be the first escalation point in the state for equipment and facilities issues, following each one through to closure.
• Coordinate rapid response and replacement when equipment failures affect trading, including support for franchise restaurants.
• Monitor repair and maintenance spend, repeat faults and job volumes, and act on trends, including repair versus replace decisions.
• Spot warranty-eligible jobs, hold contractors accountable and recover value.
• Manage preventative maintenance, contractor performance and compliance against SLAs, insurance and safety standards.
• Manage equipment supplier relationships and state stock and spare parts under national agreements.
• Keep accurate asset records and contribute to equipment replacement forecasts and capex planning.
• Support equipment and facilities readiness for new restaurants, refurbishments and our electrification programme.

Job Description

As GYG grows, every restaurant depends on equipment and facilities that work. As Equipment & Facilities Manager, you'll be the first escalation point in your state for the issues the helpdesk can't resolve, working side by side with Operations Managers to get restaurants back to full speed. You'll hold contractors and suppliers to account, act on repair and maintenance trends, and drive down equipment downtime and OPEX across the state.

What You'll Bring

• A trade qualification, Certificate IV or Diploma, or a degree in Engineering, Maintenance, Operations Management or a related field
• Proven experience in facilities, equipment, asset or repairs and maintenance management, ideally in QSR or foodservice
• A strong understanding of equipment maintenance and safety regulations, with commercial kitchen equipment knowledge highly regarded
• Excellent negotiation and supplier management skills, and commercial awareness
• Confidence using preventative maintenance and inventory management software
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and the ability to juggle multiple jobs and deadlines
• Excellent communication skills, a current driver's licence and willingness to travel within your state
