Job summary

CPB Contractors Pty is seeking an experienced Finance Manager to join our regional Queensland projects on an autonomous roster. You will oversee project accounting, financial reporting and cashflow management to support senior leaders in decision making.

The role requires a CPA, a bachelor degree, construction sector experience, and strong accounting systems knowledge (JDEdwards preferred). You will lead the finance team, ensure compliance and deliver timely monthly reports while building

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance and CPA accreditation.
  • Experience in a similar senior finance role within construction.
  • Ability to interpret legislation, rules and contractual guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and control all project accounting systems and processes.
  • Prepare accurate and timely monthly financial and management reports.
  • Ensure budgets and forecasts are accurate and up to date.
  • Lead month-end accruals and external audits.
  • Manage payments to creditors and subcontractors on trading terms.
  • Coordinate monthly project claims and invoicing.
  • Oversee cashflow, balance sheet, and tax reporting.
  • Provide strategic financial advice to senior leadership.

The Opportunity

We are seeking Expressions of Interest from experienced Finance Managers who are interested in join our upcoming projects across regional Queensland. This role offers the opportunity to work in an autonomous Finance Manager role on a roster.

This role will ensure the financial integrity of the project is maintained and enhanced through process, systems and best practice decision-making. It will also prepare financial reports, accounting records and other information allowing the project and senior leaders to make best decisions for the project.

In addition to these, you will:

  • Monitor and control all project accounting systems and processes;
  • Prepare accurate and timely monthly financial and management reports;
  • Ensure accuracy and timeliness of budgets and forecasts for programs and projects;
  • Management of the month end accruals process and monthly/regular auditing requirements (both CIMIC and external);
  • Management of timely and accurate payments to creditors and sub-contractors in accordance with trading terms and conditions;
  • Coordinating the preparation of monthly project claims, including invoicing and support documentation;
  • Manage project cashflow, balance sheet, audit and tax reporting requirements;
  • Ensure effective accounting and cost controls are in place at all times;
  • Oversee and monitor accounts processing, ensuring the correct level of authorisation in accordance with company policy and legislation;
  • Lead the project finance team, developing capability and driving performance;
  • Provide strategic financial advice to senior leadership.

Our minimum requirements for this role are:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance and/or Business (preferred) and a holder of a CPA accreditation;
  • Experience in a similar role including previous construction industry experience;
  • Ability to interpret legislation, rules and regulations to ensure compliance with all state, federal and local and contractual guidelines;
  • Awareness of policy and application of Corporate Limits of Liabilities and contractual and financial systems, processes and procedures;
  • JDEdwards experience would be highly regarded;
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge and application;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
