Job summary

CBRE Group, Inc. is seeking an experienced Facilities Maintenance Supervisor to oversee engineering operations and direct technicians, vendors, and subcontractors in Melbourne.

The role supports preventive maintenance and repairs on building systems, with a focus on compliance, safety, and minimizing disruption to clients. A GED is required, with a Mechanical or Electrical Engineering degree preferred, and at least 3 years of supervisory experience.

  • Must meet the physical requirements of the role (stooping, standing, walking, stairs, lifting heavy loads).
  • Proficiency with standard procedures to solve routine problems and analyze information.

Responsibilities

  • Comply with codes, regulations, and safety directives for building operations.
  • Review work orders and resolve complex issues.
  • Schedule preventive maintenance with clients to minimize downtime.
  • Implement a preventive maintenance program to meet equipment life goals.
  • Inspect the work of staff and ensure space is in prime condition.
  • Respond quickly to emergencies and coordinate with required teams.

We are currently looking for an experienced Facilities Maintenance Supervisor to join our team to oversee and manage the engineering operations and the direction of technicians, vendors and subcontractors.

This role is part of the Engineering and Technical Services job function. They are responsible for providing support, preventive maintenance, and repairs on equipment and systems.

The Opportunity:
  • Comply with all applicable codes, regulations, governmental agency, and company directives related to building operations and work safety.
  • Review work orders and resolve complex issues.
  • Consult with clients to schedule preventive maintenance and other downtime to minimize business interruption and inconvenience.
  • Formulate and implement a preventive maintenance program to ensure that building machinery and systems meet or exceed their rated life.
  • Inspect the work performed by staff members.
  • Determine that work is complete, equipment is fully functional and client space is in prime working condition.
  • Respond quickly to emergency situations, summoning additional assistance as needed.
  • Have some knowledge of standard principles with limited practical experience in applying them.
  • Lead by example and model behaviors that are consistent with CBRE RISE values.
  • Impact the quality of own work.
  • Work within standardized procedures and practices to achieve objectives and meet deadlines.
  • Exchange straightforward information, ask questions, and check for understanding.
  • This is a fulltime casual role for 6 - 12 months.
Our ideal person:
  • General Education Degree (GED) required. Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent professional qualification, preferred.
  • Prior supervisory experience of at least 3 years required.
  • Meet the physical requirements of this role including stooping, standing, walking, climbing stairs/ladders, and the ability to lift/carry heavy loads of 50 lbs. or more.
  • Ability to use existing procedures to solve standard problems.
  • Experience with analyzing information and standard practices to make judgments.
  • In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office products. Examples include Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
  • Organizational skills with a strong inquisitive mindset.
  • Intermediate math skills. Ability to calculate difficult figures such as percentages, fractions, and other financial-related calculations.
