Job summary

Sydney Water is seeking a science-focused leader to drive a new collaborative program in Parramatta, implementing frameworks to assess wastewater impacts on waterways. This 24-month fixed-term role blends scientific rigor with community engagement and regulatory alignment.

You will work with internal teams, regulators, and external experts to balance environmental, financial and customer needs while embedding Aboriginal cultural values in decisions.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualifications in Science/Environmental Management or relevant discipline.
• Experience leading complex scientific or environmental projects with multiple stakeholders.
• Strong understanding of scientific, environmental and regulatory principles.
• Ability to manage schedules, budgets, risks and external vendors.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills.
• Ability to balance technical, environmental, financial and customer needs.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team, experts and regulators to implement a framework to assess wastewater impacts on waterways.
• Integrate data from environmental monitoring, regulatory requirements, asset performance and costs into decisions.
• Provide guidance for development, delivery and outputs of environmental and aquatic monitoring programs.
• Embed Aboriginal cultural values of waterways in project decision making through engaging with communities.
• Manage stakeholder relationships and community engagement effectively.
