Job summary

NSW Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water is seeking an Assistant Environmental Water Management Officer to deliver environmental water programs across NSW from Queanbeyan. The role balances ecological, community and regulatory considerations while supporting plans, field monitoring and reporting.

You will work with government agencies, landholders and community partners to achieve positive environmental outcomes, with hybrid work arrangements and salary commensurate

Qualifications

• Demonstrated knowledge in water, river and wetland management and planning, including hydrology and ecology.
• Knowledge of water legislation and policies, including the Murray Darling Basin Plan.
• Experience working with multiple stakeholders, including landholders.
• Degree or equivalent qualification in biological sciences and/or natural resource management or equivalent.
• A valid NSW driver’s licence.

Responsibilities

• Support environmental watering plans and field-based monitoring activities.
• Analyse data and prepare reports and briefings for decision-making.
• Support the environmental water advisory group meetings, including organising papers.
• Contribute to planning, implementation and monitoring of water management initiatives.
• Collaborate with internal teams, landholders and agencies to deliver projects.
