Job summary

Liverpool City Council in New South Wales seeks an Environmental Operative to join our Environment Operations team. You will undertake natural area and environmental maintenance works across vegetation, waterways, and Water Sensitive Design under supervision, delivering safe, efficient outcomes.

The ideal candidate holds a Conservation & Ecosystem Management Certificate III (or equivalent), a Class C driver’s licence, AQF Level 3 chemical handling accreditation, and Bush Regeneration experience,

Responsibilities

• Carry out natural area and environment operation works relating to reactive and ongoing maintenance of vegetation communities, waterways, and Water Urban Sensitive Design (WUSD).
• Operate relevant plant and equipment, maintain accurate records, and ensure work is completed safely and to standards.
• Work effectively as part of a team and follow directions from team leader; contribute to environmental outcomes.

JOB DESCRIPTION
We are looking for Environmental operative to work as part of a team and follow directions given by the team leader in providing support to Environment Operations Coordinator and Project Officers. You will carry out natural area and environment operation works relating to the reactive and ongoing maintenance of various vegetation communities, water ways, water urban sensitive design, fire mitigation and Biosecurity.

You will operate relevant plant and equipment, maintain accurate records and ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently and in accordance with Council and industry standards.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working outdoors, contributing to environmental outcomes and being part of a practical, team-focused environment.

ABOUT YOU
The successful applicant will have:

• Conservation & Ecosystem Management Certificate III or equivalent
• Class (C) Drivers Licence
• Accreditation and experience in chemical application handling and storage, equivalent to AQF Level 3
• Experience in Bush Regeneration
• Demonstrated written and oral communication skills
• Ability to work as a member of a team and independently
• Ability to supervise volunteers and community groups
• Experience in native plant identification, especially the Threatened Ecological Communities of the Western Sydney Region
• The identification of weed species and their treatment by industry standard techniques
• Water Urban Sensitive Design maintenance (Willing to learn)
