Job description

Job Description

Be part of one of North Queensland’s major renewable energy projects, right on Townsville’s doorstep and on the traditional lands of the Bindal People. Located near Woodstock, approximately 40km south of Townsville, the Majors Creek Project is being delivered by DT Infrastructure for Edify Energy.

The project forms part of a major solar and battery storage energy development that will deliver renewable generation and large-scale battery storage to support Queensland’s future energy needs. With construction expected to create around 400 jobs and significant investment flowing through local businesses and suppliers, Majors Creek is creating exciting opportunities for the Townsville region.

For Townsville locals, this is an opportunity to work on a major renewable energy project close to home, while contributing to Queensland’s clean energy future.

FIFO opportunities are also available from Queensland home ports to Townsville.

As the Environmental Manager, you'll lead environmental planning, approvals and compliance throughout the construction phase, ensuring environmental, regulatory and community commitments are achieved while driving best-practice environmental outcomes. Working closely with the Project Director and multidisciplinary project team, you'll provide expert environmental leadership, manage project risks and foster positive relationships with regulators, landholders and key stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead environmental planning, compliance and regulatory requirements across renewable energy projects.
  • Ensure environmental management plans, approvals and monitoring programs are implemented and maintained.
  • Provide expert environmental and statutory advice to project teams, clients and regulators.
  • Manage environmental risks, audits, reporting and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders, authorities and consultants to support successful project outcomes.
Profile Description
  • Tertiary qualification in environmental science, environmental engineering, environmental management, planning or a related discipline.
  • Proven experience managing environmental compliance and regulatory requirements on large infrastructure or renewables projects.
  • Strong knowledge of environmental legislation, approvals processes and environmental management systems.
  • Experience engaging with regulators, stakeholders and project teams in complex delivery environments.
  • A proactive, well-organised professional with strong communication skills and a collaborative, solutions-focused approach.
We offer:
  • Competitive pay that reflects your contribution: We reward performance and impact, with our remuneration benchmarked to market.
  • Purpose-driven careers in infrastructure: As we grow our presence in the renewable energy sector, DTI is also continuing to cement its position as a delivery partner of choice across rail, roads and Defence infrastructure projects. Our teams benefit from the variety of opportunities, applying their skills and experience across multiple sectors.
  • Fostering your development: We’ve developed a culture where continuous learning is front and centre of everything we do. Fostering the growth and development of our people is key to our success and ensuring that we are preparing the next generation of leaders is a core focus for our business.
  • Parental leave designed for the reality of family life: Our industry leading parental leave policies are centred on flexibility to support modern family life, because at DTI, little families are a part of our one big family.
  • Flexibility that works for you and for us: We acknowledge that everyone’s needs are different in striking the right work-life integration. Whether it’s hybrid working, adjusted hours, job sharing or balancing family commitments, we’ll work together to make it work.

Women, people of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Island descent and former members of the Australian Defence Force are encouraged to apply.
