Job summary

SGS Australia is seeking a Client Services Representative to be the link between clients and our laboratory, coordinating receipt, registration and dispatch of soil, water and air samples. You will manage expectations through proactive communication and ensure services are delivered accurately and on time.

You will have a Diploma or science qualification and experience in an environmental laboratory, with a client-focused approach, strong communication skills and the ability to handle samples

Qualifications

• Diploma or tertiary qualification in Science or equivalent experience.
• Experience in a commercial environmental laboratory is required.
• Experience in a client services role is required.
• Strong communication skills and a proactive, client-focused approach are essential.
• Laboratory skills in chemistry or microbiology are advantageous.
• Physical capability to handle samples (up to 10–15kg) and be on your feet for extended periods.
• Ability to obtain required site certifications (e.g. White Card, MSIC).
• Willingness to undergo background checks.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality support to environmental clients and coordinate sample receipt and dispatch.
• Register, check, label and process soil, water and air samples accurately and efficiently.
• Communicate proactively with clients regarding sample status, turnaround times and any service impacts.
• Prepare and coordinate quotations as required.
• Liaise with laboratory teams to ensure KPIs and due dates are met.
• Maintain accurate records of client interactions and service activities.
• Ensure safe, organised and compliant operations within the sample receipt area.
• Assist with sample collections from client sites when required.
