Job summary

Penrith City Council is seeking an experienced Environmental Health Team Leader to guide and develop a skilled team in protecting our community and environment. You will oversee regulatory enforcement, advise on policy, and drive sustainable, evidence-based solutions in a growing city.

With a tertiary Environmental Health qualification and proven leadership, you’ll manage development referrals, onsite wastewater programs, and complex public health initiatives while promoting collaboration and

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in Environmental Health or related discipline.
• Experience in environmental health and regulation, including investigation and resolution of complex matters.
• Experience in delivering environmental and public health programs (food safety, pools, onsite wastewater).
• Experience in environmental assessment of development proposals including noise, land contamination, air quality.
• Experience in developing regulatory programs and service improvements.
• Demonstrated leadership of environmental health professionals.
• Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead and inspire the Environment Team to protect community wellbeing and the natural environment.
• Oversee Environmental Health Officers' work on development referrals, land contamination, acoustics, air quality, and wastewater.
• Drive innovative, sustainable, evidence-based outcomes while maintaining a high-performing team.
• Provide advice to shape policy, guide long-term planning, and deliver sustainable solutions aligned with Council priorities.
