Western Downs Regional Council is seeking an Environmental Health Officer to deliver effective Environmental Health and Local Laws services in line with government legislation, council plans, and best practices.

You will undertake investigations, collect evidence for court briefs, and issue regulatory notices while responding rapidly to high-risk incidents to safeguard the community and environment.

Formación

• Bachelor level degree in Environmental Health accredited by Environmental Health Australia (EHA).
• Current Queensland C Class driver’s licence.
• Professional accreditations in Food Safety Auditing, Asbestos Regulations and Pest Management are highly desirable.
• Eligible for membership with Environmental Health Australia (EHA).

Responsabilidades

• Undertaking environmental health investigations, assessments, sampling and audits (pollution, food safety, vector, waste, etc.).
• Collecting evidence and preparing briefs for Court hearings on alleged offences.
• Preparing and issuing regulatory notices (Compliance, Stop Order, Improvement, etc.) and Infringement Notices.
• Responding promptly to high-risk customer requests or incidents to protect the community and environment.

About the role

The Environmental Health Officer is responsible for the delivery of effective Environmental Health and Local Laws services in compliance with Government Legislation, Council corporate plan goals and industry best practice.

Key responsibilities

• Undertaking environmental health investigations, assessments, sampling and audits (e.g. pollution management; environmental value determination, food safety, vector management, disaster and pandemic management, local laws, waste management, etc.)
• Collecting evidence and preparing Briefs for Court hearings in relation to alleged offences
• Preparing and issuing regulatory notices (e.g. Compliance, Stop Order, Improvement, etc.) and Infringement Notices
• Urgently respond to high risk customer requests or incidents to protect the community and environment

About you

• Hold a relevant Bachelor Level Degree in Environmental Health accredited by Environmental Health Australia (EHA)
• Current Queensland "C" Class driver's licence
• Highly desirable to have obtained and maintained professional accreditations in Food Safety Auditing, Asbestos Regulations and Pest Management
• Eligible for membership with Environmental Health Australia (EHA)
