Job summary

Stanbroke is seeking an Environment Officer to join the processing plant team. This role, reporting to the Plant Manager, involves maintaining compliance with environmental regulations through monitoring, record-keeping, and reporting.

You’ll work closely with various teams, manage risks, oversee waste disposal, and ensure compliance with Queensland’s environmental legislation. This hands-on role requires strong analytical, communication, and training skills.

Qualifications

• Working knowledge of Queensland environmental legislation and conditions for meat processing.
• Understanding of wastewater, irrigation, stormwater, and trade waste management.
• Ability to analyse data and write clear reports for regulators and management.
• Strong communication skills with staff, regulators, and community members.

Responsibilities

• Keep the abattoir compliant with its Environmental Authority.
• Monitor wastewater and leachate ponds and manage irrigation.
• Oversee paunch and compost operations and manage waste disposal.
• Track water, power, gas, and waste data for efficiency opportunities.
• Respond to spills or leaks and notify regulators in required timeframes.
