Job summary

Alignerr is seeking an Environmental Engineer to train AI models on real-world water treatment, air quality, and remediation challenges. This is a fully remote, hourly contract role requiring 10–40 hours per week.

You will design complex problems, write gold-standard solutions with precise calculations, and audit AI outputs for regulatory compliance. The role values meticulous analysis and clear technical communication.

Qualifications

• Pursuing or holding a Master's or PhD in Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering (environmental focus), or a closely related discipline.
• Strong foundational knowledge in aquatic chemistry, wastewater process design, air quality engineering, or hazardous waste remediation.
• Able to communicate complex engineering and ecological concepts clearly in written form.
• No prior AI experience required; your engineering expertise is what matters.

Responsibilities

• Design complex engineering problems—craft multi-step challenges spanning contaminant transport and mass balance in treatment plants.
• Author gold-standard solutions with precise calculations serving as ground-truth benchmarks for AI training.
• Audit AI outputs—evaluate remediation plans and environmental impact statements for regulatory compliance and safety.
• Sharpen AI reasoning by identifying failure modes and providing structured feedback to improve model thinking.
