Job description

12 month fixed term | Part time or full time, three to five days a week

Go beyond compliance. Set the standard. Build a legacy.

Arafura is developing the Nolans rare earths project in the Northern Territory, a billion-dollar greenfield operation producing the rare earths that will enable the global energy transition and future facing technologies.

As Nolans moves into build and operational readiness phases, how we build it matters as much as what we build. We are looking for an Environmental Advisor to join our Operations team and help shape what responsible, rare earths processing can be, the first of its kind in Australia.

This is a 12 month fixed term role and we are flexible on hours, anywhere from three to five days a week.

What you'll deliver

You will help maintain and strengthen our Environmental and Social Management System and the advice that flows from it, keeping us aligned to our regulatory and lender commitments as we scale toward operations.

  • Maintain and improve the ESMS, aligned to Government and International Performance standards
  • Develop, maintain and review environmental and social management plans, procedures, standards, registers, work plans and guidance documents
  • Provide practical environmental advice into design, procurement and operational decisions
  • Coordinate environmental assurance activities, compliance, and regulatory reporting
  • Help build environmental awareness and capability across the business
What you’ll bring
  • Tertiary qualifications in environmental science, environmental management or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience developing, implementing, auditing and continuously improving environmental and social management systems
  • Strong report writing and documentation skills
  • Environmental compliance experience gained on projects and/or operations
  • Sound judgement and the confidence to give advice that counts
  • Working knowledge of approvals, legislation and compliance obligations (Commonwealth and NT highly regarded)
  • A genuine commitment to environmental stewardship and responsible development
  • Strong stakeholder skills across site teams, contractors and communities
  • Resilience and pragmatism in a remote and demanding environment
  • Experience with GIS tools and applications is desirable
