Job summary

Duratec is seeking an Environmental Advisor to implement management plans and drive improvements on Defence and Marine projects from Garden Island, WA. This full-time role emphasizes EMS delivery, site oversight, and stakeholder collaboration to ensure compliant, sustainable outcomes.

You will lead environmental initiatives, provide training, and support project teams across the programme, while maintaining regulatory standards and safeguarding the environment on site.

Qualifications

  • Experience in site-based construction projects or environmental consulting
  • Understanding Defence Estate environmental policies and applicable regulations
  • Proficient in monitoring, inspection, auditing, data collection and reporting

Responsibilities

  • Update and implement Construction Environmental Management Plans to support delivery and compliance
  • Develop environmental awareness programs and training
  • Oversee inspections and environmental management measures
  • Drive EMS implementation across the project

THE ROLE

As the Environmental Advisor, you will focus on implementing environmental management plans, work practices, improvements, initiatives and awareness. This role will be based out of Garden Island, working across Marine and Defence scopes on a full-time Monday to Friday roster.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Update and implement Construction Environmental Management Plans (CEMP’s) to support project delivery and environmental compliance
  • Develop and provide environmental awareness programs and training
  • Undertake environmental inspections and oversee the implementation of environmental management measures
  • Drive the implementation of Duratec’s certified Environmental Management System (EMS)
  • Undertake environmental incident investigations and assist with environmental incident reporting
  • Support project delivery to obtain and maintain compliance with relevant environmental obligations
  • Lead environmental initiatives across the project
  • Support the project teams in meeting environmental commitments
ABOUT YOU

Previous experience in site based construction project or from an environmental consulting background would be advantageous for this opportunity.

  • An understanding of Defence Estate environmental policies and applicable state and territory environmental regulation
  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant functional discipline (Environmental Sciences, Marine Sciences or Environmental Engineering)
  • Proficient in environmental monitoring, inspection, auditing, data collection, and reporting
  • Knowledge of environmental legislation, regulatory frameworks, approval processes, and industrial compliance
  • Communication skills with the ability to develop effective internal stakeholder relationships
