Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or related discipline.
• 3+ years in environmental management on linear infrastructure projects, preferably pipeline/civil construction; 5+ years on static construction projects.
• CPESC certification or Registered Soil Practitioner preferred; experience with erosion and sediment control plans.
• Strong knowledge of EPA South Australia requirements and ISO 14001.
• Experience in environmental monitoring and impact assessments.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication with stakeholder engagement.
• Organized, able to manage multiple priorities, and work autonomously or in a team.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement environmental policies, procedures and documentation to support compliance and sustainable project delivery.
• Conduct site inspections to identify environmental hazards and implement practical controls with the construction team.
• Complete environmental impact assessments and develop strategies to minimise impacts.
• Undertake environmental compliance audits, identify non-conformances and drive corrective actions to closure.
• Monitor and report on key environmental performance metrics (air, noise, water, waste and energy) and recommend improvements.
• Prepare and contribute to daily, weekly and monthly reporting as required.
• Deliver environmental training, toolbox talks and ongoing coaching to crews, contractors and the project management team.
• Liaise with clients, subcontractors, regulators and industry bodies to support compliance and best practice.
• Support incident prevention and response, ensuring appropriate actions and learnings are captured and communicated.
• Identify opportunities and innovations to reduce the project’s carbon footprint and overall environmental impact.

About this role

We are seeking an experienced Environmental Advisor to support delivery of a pipeline project in Adelaide, South Australia. This is a site-based, hands‑on role working closely with construction and project management teams to support environmental planning, compliance and field implementation. The role will focus on ensuring construction activities are undertaken in a manner that prevents environmental incidents, meets project, regulatory and permitting requirements, and promotes practical, sustainable environmental controls aligned with client specifications and standards.

Key responsibilities

About you

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in environmental management and compliance on linear infrastructure projects, preferably including pipeline, civil construction or major earthworks projects, or at least 5 years’ experience on static construction, engineering or manufacturing projects.
• CPESC certification or Registered Soil Practitioner qualification is highly regarded, with demonstrated experience preparing and implementing erosion and sediment control plans, including controls for high‑risk dewatering activities, discharge management, water quality monitoring and sediment‑laden water controls.
• Strong working knowledge of environmental legislation and best practice frameworks, including EPA South Australia requirements and ISO 14001.
• Demonstrated experience in environmental monitoring and environmental impact assessments.
• Strong analytical/problem‑solving skills with the ability to identify and mitigate environmental risks.
• Highly effective written and verbal communication skills with strong stakeholder engagement capability.
• Well organised, able to manage multiple priorities, and comfortable working autonomously and as part of a team.
• Positive, proactive approach with a strong commitment to safety leadership and continuous improvement.

Role locations & travel

The role is based in Adelaide, South Australia, supporting a 1–2 year pipeline project. The preferred candidate will be local to Adelaide; however, fly‑in fly‑out arrangements may be considered for the right applicant. The position is expected to commence in October 2026 and continue through to February 2028, with potential extension subject to project requirements and candidate suitability. The role is anticipated to operate on a six‑day‑per‑week roster, with 11‑hour workdays during active project delivery.
