Job description

Central Petroleum Limited (ASX:CTP) is a well-established and emerging Australian ASX-listed oil and gas producer. We have a diverse portfolio of producing and prospective gas tenements across the Northern Territory (NT). We operate the largest onshore oil and gas fields in the NT, producing from proven reserves in the Amadeus Basin (west of Alice Springs), and have exploration opportunities in two of Australia’s proven energy provinces – Victoria’s Otway Basin and the Cooper Basin in South Australia. As an Australian oil and gas company listed on the ASX, we provide energy security and reliable gas supply to power stations, mine sites, energy wholesalers and retailers in central and northern Australia.

About the role

Reporting to the Risk and HSE Manager, the Environmental Advisor supports Central's environmental compliance and performance across exploration, drilling, and production activities. The role assists with the implementation of Environmental Management Plans (EMPs), environmental monitoring, site inspections, regulatory reporting, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Collaborating closely with operational teams, drilling and exploration personnel, contractors and environmental consultants, the Environmental Advisor will help ensure environmental requirements are understood and implemented across Central's operations. Key responsibilities include maintaining environmental compliance registers and records, coordinating routine monitoring activities, tracking approval conditions, and reporting deadlines, and supporting environmental audits, incident investigations, and corrective actions.

The role will also contribute to environmental data analysis, emissions reporting, and internal and joint venture reporting requirements. The successful candidate will take a proactive and practical approach to environmental management, helping operational personnel understand their environmental obligations and supporting the consistent implementation of company procedures and regulatory requirements.

Who this role might suit

This role would suit an environmental science graduate or an early-career environmental professional looking to develop their experience within the oil and gas industry. You will be someone who enjoys combining technical and administrative work with practical field activities, and who is keen to build their knowledge of environmental compliance and management in an operational environment.

You will collaborate with a range of stakeholders across Central's Brisbane office and remote operational sites, supporting environmental monitoring programs, maintaining accurate records, and helping deliver environmental compliance and reporting requirements. A willingness to travel to operational sites, participate in fieldwork and learn from experienced colleagues will be important to your success.

This opportunity would appeal to someone who is organised, detail-oriented and eager to take ownership of their work, while recognising when to seek guidance on complex technical or regulatory matters. It offers the opportunity to build a broad foundation in environmental management and contribute to the responsible operation of Central's exploration, drilling, and production activities.
