Job summary

Downer is seeking 6 AI/ML Engineers to design, build, and scale enterprise-grade AI/ML solutions across Azure Databricks and Foundry ecosystems. You will move models from prototype to production, collaborating with architecture, security, governance and business stakeholders.

The role focuses on delivering agentic workflows, leveraging tools like Claude Code, Codex, Cursor and GitHub Copilot, and contributing to cost optimisation and FinOps in a large enterprise environment.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, IT, Data Science or related discipline.
• 5+ years total experience across software/data engineering or related field.
• 2+ years hands-on experience in analytics, ML or generative AI for production.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, test and deploy enterprise grade AI solutions and agentic workflows across MS Azure and Databricks ecosystems.
• Develop clean, testable Python, C# and SQL code meeting engineering standards.
• Build AI solutions using frontier and open weight models with RAG, VectorDBs, Knowledge Graphs and MCP servers.
• Maintain MLOps pipelines including CI/CD, automated training, evaluation gates, deployment and monitoring.
• Manage experiment tracking, model versioning and reproducibility with Databricks MLflow.
