Job summary

Queensland Health on the Sunshine Coast is seeking an Enrolled Nurse to support the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Directorate in delivering culturally appropriate care and health promotion services for the local community.

The role emphasises safety, quality, and collaborative care with the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community and other health professionals, with a strong focus on equity and culturally informed practice.

Qualifications

• Understand safety and quality responsibilities in healthcare and participate in quality and safety improvements.
• Deliver culturally appropriate care by understanding Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, history, health inequities, and issues.
• Communicate effectively with clients and advocate for them, working with the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community and health professionals.

Responsibilities

• Fulfil responsibilities per Nurses and Midwives (Queensland Health Award) – State 2015 – Generic Level Statements Nurse Grade 3.
• Participate in continuous quality and safety improvement activities and notify the appropriate officer if safety concerns arise.
• Demonstrate cultural understanding to deliver evidence-based culturally appropriate care.
• Collaborate with the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community and health service providers.

Key Responsibilities include:

• Fulfil the responsibilities of this role in accordance with Schedule 2, Nurses and Midwives (Queensland Health Award) – State 2015 – Generic Level Statements Nurse Grade 3 and the Queensland Public Service values.
• Understand your broad responsibilities for safety and quality in healthcare, actively participate in continuous quality and safety improvement activities within the workplace and notify a relevant clinical or non-clinical responsible officer when concerns exist about workplace or patient safety.
• Demonstrate an understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, history, health inequities and health issues to deliver informed, evidence based culturally appropriate care.
• Demonstrate good communication and interpersonal skills in the provision of client care and advocacy. Including working collaboratively and in partnership with the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community, health service providers and other health professionals.

Salary between $75,573 - $80,204 p.a., employer contribution to superannuation (12.75%) and annual leave loading (17.5%) (Nurse Grade 3). Applications will remain current for 12 months / the duration of the vacancy.
