English at Pembroke is taught by a large, dynamic team across Years 7 to 12, spanning both SACE and the International Baccalaureate. Our Middle School curriculum has been recently redesigned around conceptual threads and a portfolio-based approach to assessment that prioritises the process of learning, not just its products. Our teachers enjoy considerable freedom in text selection, within a framework of high academic expectations, and our faculty culture is one of collegiality, intellectual curiosity and serious engagement with pedagogy. Our staff contribute to curriculum design, and are supported to grow as practitioners at every career stage.


About the Role

Successful applicants will teach across the secondary years, with allocations shaped by experience and strengths. Depending on the appointment, this may include Middle School classes, senior SACE English subjects, or IB Diploma Language A courses.

About You

You are an effective teacher first and foremost, with demonstrated impact on student learning and a command of your subject that lets you teach with both rigour and imagination.


You will bring


  • Strong subject knowledge and a love of literature and language that students can feel

  • Evidence-informed, responsive pedagogy and high expectations of every learner

  • Capacity or willingness to teach across SACE and IB pathways (IB experience is valued but not required; training and support are provided)

  • Strong communication with students, families and colleagues

  • A collaborative disposition and a genuine interest in contributing to faculty and school life
