Job summary

Chester Hill High School in South-Western Sydney seeks an experienced English educator to lead English across Years 7–12 within a large, diverse community. You will design inclusive curricula, use explicit teaching strategies and assess progress to support every student’s growth.

Qualifications

• Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
• Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
• Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
• Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
• Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
• Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a collaborative English faculty through instructional leadership, mentoring and professional learning
• Support improved student achievement in English and literacy through high expectations, explicit and evidence-based teaching, effective assessment and strategic use of data
• Lead the design, implementation and evaluation of high-quality English curriculum and assessment programs across Years 7–12
• Respond to diverse student learning and engagement needs while maintaining high expectations and collaborating with staff, students and families
