Job summary

Eaton is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead a team of Application Engineers across Australia and New Zealand, delivering critical power solutions. You will drive technical excellence, mentor engineers, and collaborate with Sales, Product, and Software teams to meet customer and regulatory needs.

The role requires 10+ years in critical power with at least 3 years in leadership, a degree in Electrical Engineering, and strong communication and stakeholder management skills.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in critical power or related electrical infrastructure environments.
  • Minimum 3 years leading and developing technical engineering teams.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Electrical Engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach and develop a team of Application Engineers, fostering technical excellence while identifying and evaluating emerging technologies, products and engineering practices through industry engagement, networking, research and market intelligence.
  • Keep abreast of industry trends, competitive landscape, and market conditions to identify opportunities for growth.
  • Provide technical leadership across applicable Australian and New Zealand standards, grid-connection requirements, product compliance and industry regulations relevant to critical power systems.
  • Ensure Power Quality products, engineered solutions and technical documentation comply with relevant certifications, safety requirements and regulatory standards.
  • Lead technical reviews for complex bids, specifications and customer presentations covering UPS, batteries, DC systems, power distribution, connectivity and monitoring software.
  • Partner with Sales, Product Management, Project Management, Software and Services teams to deliver seamless end-to-end customer solutions across the Power Quality portfolio.
  • Collaborate with overseas factories and global engineering teams to resolve technical issues, align product requirements and support the successful introduction and delivery of Power Quality solutions.
  • Manage late-point-definition design engineering, ensuring customer-specific requirements are confirmed, controlled and incorporated without compromising quality, compliance or delivery timelines.
  • Attract, develop, and retain top talent, creating a pipeline of diverse technical experts.
  • Mentor engineers to achieve career goals while driving accountability for project timelines, design quality, and documentation.

Our portfolio includes uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), DC power systems, batteries and energy storage, power distribution, connectivity, monitoring software and lifecycle services.

We are seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead and develop a team of Application Engineers across Australia and New Zealand, delivering innovative Power Quality solutions that meet customer, regulatory and business requirements. This role will be instrumental in transforming our engineering capability, driving technical excellence, strengthening engineering processes, and building a high-performing team that supports Eaton's continued growth.

The successful candidate will bring a combination of strong people leadership, commercial acumen, and deep technical expertise across critical power infrastructure, including UPS systems, batteries and energy storage, DC power systems, monitoring software, and associated applications.

Qualifications
  • 10+ years of experience in critical power, power quality or related electrical infrastructure environments, including a minimum of 3 years leading and developing technical engineering teams.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting complex bids, specification reviews, system designs and the introduction or application of new critical power products and technologies.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Electrical Engineering.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate with authority.
  • Exceptional stakeholder management and interpersonal skills driven by the team's project execution success.
