Job summary

Buildsafe on the Gold Coast is seeking an experienced Software Engineering Manager to lead our software engineering function across BuildCam and internal platforms, embedding AI practices and guiding architectural decisions. You’ll foster a high-performing team and partner with executives to drive delivery and technology strategy.

You’ll work across national platforms, modernise existing systems, and champion AI-enabled development while ensuring reliable business outcomes and measurable value.

• Experience leading software development teams.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience delivering software in Agile environments.
• Mentoring developers and building capability.
• Curiosity around emerging technologies, particularly AI-assisted development.

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach and develop our software engineering team.
• Set clear priorities and manage delivery across multiple projects.
• Partner with business leaders to translate ideas into practical technology solutions.
• Champion modern software development practices and AI-assisted engineering.
• Guide technical decisions without becoming the team's primary coder.
• Support the continued evolution of our BuildCam platform and internal business systems.
• Drive continuous improvement across software delivery, quality and engineering capability.
• Help shape Buildsafe's long-term technology roadmap.
