PropertyMe is Australia's leading PropTech platform, empowering real estate professionals across Australia and New Zealand. We seek an Engineering Lead to combine strong software engineering with technical leadership, building solutions for large SaaS domains and complex customer problems.

You will guide architecture decisions, ensure code quality, and mentor a cross-functional team in a fast-growing SaaS environment while embracing lean, agile practices and secure delivery.

Qualifications

• 8+ years commercial development experience in Ruby on Rails, GraphQL, Vue, and PostgreSQL.
• At least 12 months of practical agentic AI experience in a work environment.

Responsibilities

• Has hands-on involvement in building solutions that solve higher-level customer problems
• Works with Product Team to refine features based on domain knowledge and technical experience
• Designs solutions for complex domains and scale in large SaaS solutions
• Balances design choices across current architecture and future state
• Writes clean, maintainable, loosely coupled, elegant, and testable code
• Manages technical debt with a pragmatic approach
• Leads the team in achieving high-quality delivery standards
• Promotes lean, agile software delivery principles
• Promotes and improves automated testing suite
• Coaches team to evaluate solutions by pragmatic logic and effort
• Leads all aspects of feature delivery, including security, documentation, automation, and change management
• Encourages a learning environment with learning moments from failures
• Coaches, mentors, and supports team growth through feedback techniques

The Engineering Lead is a key member of the cross-functional delivery team. You will be responsible for combining a deep understanding of modern software engineering with strong communication and technical leadership skills.

Responsibilities

• Has hands-on involvement in building solutions that solve higher-level customer problems
• Works with our Product Team to refine features based on domain knowledge and technical experience
• Designs solutions that cater for the challenges of complex domains and the problems of scale in large SaaS solutions
• Balances design choices across our current architecture and our desired future state
• Has great experience in writing clean, maintainable, loosely coupled, elegant, and testable code
• Demonstrates a healthy approach to technical debt and takes a pragmatic approach to managing it
• Leads the team in achieving high-quality standards for delivery
• Promotes practical and effective use of lean, agile principles of software delivery
• Promotes and improves our automated testing suite
• Teaches their team to assess potential solutions based on pragmatic logic and development effort over "gut feel" and/or resume-driven development
• Leads their team in all aspects of feature delivery, including security
• documentation, automation, change management, supportability, and more
• Encourages a learning environment, using small failures as learning moments for their team
• Coaches, mentors, and supports their team members' growth using various feedback mechanisms and techniques

What you bring

Knowledge and experience in collaborative discussions on architecture, code quality, tooling, release processes, and ways of working with the goal of continuously improving the engineering culture and environment. 8+ years commercial development experience in Ruby on Rails, GraphQL, Vue, and PostgresQL. Must also have at least 12 months of practical agentic AI experience in a work environment.
