Job summary

PropertyMe, Australia’s leading PropTech platform, is seeking an Engineering Lead to drive a cross-functional delivery team from our Sydney office. You will blend modern software engineering with strong technical leadership to impact millions of Real Estate professionals across Australia and New Zealand.

You will mentor a team, own architectural decisions, and promote lean, agile practices while maintaining high-quality standards and an emphasis on automated testing.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of commercial development experience with RoR, GraphQL, Vue and PostgreSQL.
• At least 12 months of practical agentic AI experience in a work environment.
• Strong architectural, coding quality and testing discipline.

Responsibilities

• Hands-on involvement in building solutions that solve high-level customer problems.
• Collaborate with Product Team to refine features using domain knowledge and technical experience.
• Design scalable solutions for large SaaS deployments and balance current vs future architecture.
• Lead the team to deliver high-quality, maintainable code and champion lean, agile delivery.
• Promote automated testing and pragmatic debt management; drive quality standards.
• Coach, mentor and grow team members through constructive feedback.

Your Mission:

The Engineering Lead is a key member of the cross-functional delivery team. You will be responsible for combining a deep understanding of modern software engineering with strong communication and technical leadership skills.

Responsibilities

• Has hands‑on involvement in building solutions that solve higher‑level customer problems
• Works with our Product Team to refine features based on domain knowledge and technical experience
• Designs solutions that cater for the challenges of complex domains and the problems of scale in large SaaS solutions
• Balances design choices across our current architecture and our desired future state
• Has great experience in writing clean, maintainable, loosely coupled, elegant, and testable code
• Demonstrates a healthy approach to technical debt and takes a pragmatic approach to managing it
• Leads the team in achieving high-quality standards for delivery
• Promotes practical and effective use of lean, agile principles of software delivery
• Promotes and improves our automated testing suite
• Teaches their team to assess potential solutions based on pragmatic logic and development effort over “gut feel” and/or resume-driven development
• Leads their team in all aspects of feature delivery, including security, documentation, automation, change management, supportability, and more
• Encourages a learning environment, using small failures as learning moments for their team
• Coaches, mentors, and supports their team members' growth using various feedback mechanisms and techniques

What you bring

Knowledge and experience in collaborative discussions on architecture, code quality, tooling, release processes, and ways of working with the goal of continuously improving the engineering culture and environment.

8+ years commercial development experience in Ruby on Rails, GraphQL, Vue, and PostgresQL. Must also have at least 12 months of practical agentic AI experience in a work environment.
