Macquarie Group in Sydney is seeking an Engineering Lead to guide a small, high-calibre software team embedded with the APAC Gas, Power and Carbon trading desk. You will shape the delivery of risk management tools, pricing models and analytics that support daily trading activity across the regional energy markets.

You will partner with traders and global teams to set priorities, mentor engineers, and drive technical initiatives that unlock revenue opportunities while maintaining strong risk

Qualifications

• Strong software engineering background with hands-on credibility in trading or financial markets.
• Experience in energy or commodity markets (power, gas and/or carbon), APAC exposure preferred.
• Demonstrated experience leading or mentoring technical teams.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management, including collaboration with traders and global colleagues.
• Commercial mindset prioritising work that drives business value.

Responsabilités

• Lead, manage and develop a small team of four to five software engineers embedded with the APAC desk.
• Oversee design, development and delivery of risk management tools, pricing and analytics models.
• Identify and develop opportunities for revenue generation through technical innovation across APAC markets.
• Collaborate with global Quantitative Strategy group to align priorities and share best practices.
• Ensure code quality, risk management and controls in collaboration with risk and technology teams.
