Job summary

Talent in Canberra is seeking a Senior Engineering Lead to shape delivery across a large-scale program with strong technical leadership. You will coordinate across planning, reviews, and delivery with senior leadership and multidisciplinary project teams.

You'll guide engineering management, risk and change, and mentor engineering managers while influencing practices across the program. This role is available as permanent full-time or contract to 30 June 2027, with on-site Canberra requirements

Step into a senior engineering role with influence across the broader delivery environment, providing technical leadership and helping shape how complex engineering outcomes are planned, governed and delivered.

You'll work closely with senior leadership, engineering managers and multidisciplinary project teams across engineering planning, commercial activities, system reviews, change management and delivery. There's a strong advisory element to the role, alongside the opportunity to mentor other engineering managers and influence engineering practices across the broader program.

The Role

As the Engineering Lead, you'll provide senior engineering advice and coordination across a large-scale, technically complex program environment, bringing together engineering, project, scheduling, commercial and integration activities.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Providing expert engineering advice to senior leadership and supporting key technical and delivery decisions
• Developing and maintaining Engineering Management Plans, engineering planning artefacts, resource plans and reporting
• Leading engineering input across tender activities, contract execution, system reviews and project test events
• Proactively managing engineering risks, issues, opportunities and change to support effective delivery
• Mentoring and coaching engineering managers while coordinating across multidisciplinary project and specialist teams

About You

You'll bring significant engineering experience and the ability to operate comfortably at both the technical and program level. You'll be confident advising senior stakeholders, bringing different disciplines together and maintaining a clear view of engineering priorities across a complex delivery environment.

We're particularly interested in experience across:

• Engineering management and technical leadership within complex acquisition or delivery environments
• Developing and managing Engineering Management Plans and associated planning artefacts
• Engineering planning, resource management, reporting and decision support
• Supporting commercial and contract activities, including tenders, evaluations and contract execution
• Major system reviews, test activities, configuration/change management and engineering risk
• Leading, mentoring and coordinating multidisciplinary engineering teams
• A current NV2 security clearance
