Job summary

Giide in Australia is seeking a senior engineering leader to partner with Production and drive product development from concept to design, while shaping the aftermarket with field feedback. You’ll lead a multidisciplinary team across electrical, automation, hydraulic and mechanical disciplines and sit at the leadership table reporting to the Managing Director.

Qualifications

• Experience leading a multidisciplinary engineering team (electrical, automation, hydraulic, mechanical).
• Background in heavy mobile equipment or adjacent industries (trucks, mining, civil, agricultural).
• Strong understanding of design standards and CAN bus interfaces.
• Proven track record across concept to aftermarket product lifecycle.
• Ability to build structure and processes where none exist.
• Fluent communication translating field input into engineering direction.

Responsibilities

• Partner with Production day-to-day to ground design in manufacturability.
• Lead product development from concept through design with real production feedback.
• Support aftermarket with troubleshooting input and field feedback.
• Build structure into the engineering function with team leads and succession planning.

About the Role

This is a newly available leadership role, reporting directly to the Managing Director. The primary focus is working closely with Production day-to-day, while also driving product development from concept through to design, and supporting Aftermarket with ongoing field feedback and development.

Here’s the real opportunity: the engineering team today is evolving with some key discipline experts in place. You will be leading product development while building real structure, leadership and succession into an existing team of around engineers across electrical, automation, hydraulic and mechanical disciplines.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Partner closely with Production day-to-day - the primary working relationship in this role - to keep design decisions grounded in what's achievable and efficient on the manufacturing floor
• Lead product development from concept through to design, informed by real production and field input
• Support Aftermarket with troubleshooting input, field feedback and ongoing product optimisation
• Build genuine structure into the engineering function - team leads, succession, capability - not just individual expertise
• Progress automation and design-for-efficiency initiatives and supporting the business's ongoing production growth
• Sit at the leadership table, reporting directly to the Managing Director

What You’ll Bring

• Demonstrated experience leading a multidisciplinary engineering team (electrical, automation, hydraulic, mechanical)
• Background in heavy mobile equipment, trucks, mining, civil or agricultural equipment - or a genuinely adjacent industry
• Sound understanding of design standards and vehicle/equipment systems - CAN bus architecture and the interface challenges that come with multi-manufacturer components
• A genuine track record across the full product lifecycle - concept through to aftermarket
• Comfort building structure and process where it doesn't yet exist, not just maintaining what's already there
• Confidence translating production, sales and aftermarket input into engineering direction
