Job summary

National Gallery of Victoria (NGV) seeks an Engineering Coordinator to lead safe, sustainable and compliant Engineering Services across NGV International and NGV Australia, including the The Fox: NGV Contemporary. You will coordinate in-house and external resources to optimise building assets and deliver capital projects on time and within budget.

You will manage procurement, contracts and budgets, contribute to asset management and funding submissions, and advance energy and water efficiency

Qualifications

  • Requires tertiary qualifications in Engineering and experience delivering Engineering Services in public buildings.
  • Knowledge of Building Codes and Construction Induction (White Card) is expected.
  • Engineers Australia accreditation is desirable; BIM and digital engineering knowledge is well regarded.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate delivery of Engineering Services (Mechanical, Electrical, Hydraulic, Vertical Transport) to ensure safety and compliance.
  • Ensure value for money through procurement, contract management and budget control; support budget processes.
  • Develop and maintain the NGV Asset Management Strategy and asset information.
  • Draft funding submissions and business cases for internal/external funding of projects.
  • Lead sustainability initiatives to reduce energy and water usage and carbon footprint.
  • Coordinate engineering services and capital projects including NGV Contemporary; deliver on time and on budget.

The National Gallery of Victoria (NGV) is seeking an Engineering Coordinator to support the delivery of safe, sustainable, efficient and compliant, Engineering Services at NGV International and NGV Australia and contribute to the planning of future facilities including The Fox: NGV Contemporary.

ABOUT THE POSITION:

You will be responsible for coordinating the delivery of efficient and effective Engineering Services (Essential, Mechanical, Electrical, Hydraulic and Vertical Transportation) through a mix of inhouse and outsourced resourcing, to ensure safety and compliance, and maximise the life of the building assets. Other key responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring that Engineering Services represent value for money for the NGV through effective procurement, active contract management and sound budget control. Supporting the Assistant Engineering Manager to manage operating and capital budgets.
  • Contributing to the development of the NGV Asset Management Strategy and Plan and maintaining information about Engineering assets.
  • Drafting funding submissions and business cases for internal and external funding of new projects, initiatives and assets. Ensuring that information is created and managed according to the Information Management policy and procedures, including compliance with privacy and data security requirements.
  • Supporting environmentally sustainable Engineering Services at the NGV and leading projects and initiatives to reduce the NGV’s carbon footprint, particularly in energy and water usage.
  • Coordinating a range of Engineering Services and capital projects, including support for the NGV Contemporary project.Delivering agreed outcomes on time, to budget, and meeting all safety requirements.

To be successful, you will have relevant tertiary qualifications in Engineering coupled with proven experience and knowledge in the delivery of Engineering Services (Essential, Mechanical, Electrical, Hydraulic, Vertical Transport) in public buildings. You have demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Building Codes and possess a Construction Induction (White Card).

You are enthusiastic and committed, demonstrate capacity for sustained effort and hard work and set high standards of performance for self and others. You seek all relevant information for problem solving, liaise with stakeholders, analyse issues from different perspectives and propose workable solutions to problems. You negotiate and record various elements of contracts, monitor expenditure and service delivery against contract specifications and liaise with stakeholders.

Engineers Australia accreditation is desirable. Demonstrated knowledge of Digital Engineering, Building Information Modelling (BIM) and other Engineering systems is well regarded.
