Qualifications

  • Experience in reliability engineering, maintenance improvement, asset management, or defect elimination within mining or heavy industry.
  • Strong analytical capability to interpret condition monitoring and maintenance data for improvements.
  • Knowledge of reliability improvement methodologies, RCA, and risk-based maintenance.

Responsibilities

  • Lead defect elimination and reliability improvement initiatives across the mobile fleet maintenance function.
  • Analyse condition monitoring and performance data to identify risks and improve reliability.
  • Develop and optimise maintenance strategies, task lists, and work instructions.
  • Support budgeting and input into asset management and reliability planning.
  • Evaluate equipment performance and provide actions to support production objectives.
  • Prepare business cases and justifications for reliability projects and drive delivery.
  • Manage MOC processes to improve safety, availability, and performance.
  • Collaborate with MECoE, operations, supply, and contractors to improve outcomes.
  • Validate maintenance plans and monitor effectiveness of reliability initiatives.
  • Contribute to training strategies and skill development for maintenance teams.

We currently have a vacancy for aSpecialist Reliability, reporting to the Lead Engineer Reliability (Mobile Fleet).

The Challenge Ahead

As a Specialist Reliability, you will play a key role in improving the performance, safety, and reliability of Olympic Dam’s mobile mining fleet. Working within a highly skilled maintenance and engineering team, you will drive defect elimination, continuous improvement initiatives, and strategic reliability programs that support safe and efficient operations.

This is an opportunity to apply your technical expertise across a large and diverse fleet, using data-driven decision making and engineering principles to optimise equipment performance and reduce operational risk. You will work closely with maintenance, operations, engineering, and execution teams to identify improvement opportunities, influence maintenance strategies, and deliver sustainable reliability outcomes.

Your contribution will directly support equipment capability, maintenance effectiveness, and the successful delivery of Olympic Dam’s production objectives.

What You'll Bring to the Role

You are a collaborative reliability professional with a passion for solving complex equipment challenges and improving asset performance. You enjoy working across multiple disciplines, building strong relationships, and influencing positive change through technical expertise and practical solutions.

To be successful, you will bring:

  • Experience in reliability engineering, maintenance improvement, asset management, or defect elimination within mining, heavy industry, manufacturing, or a similar operational environment.
  • Strong analytical capability, with experience interpreting condition monitoring, maintenance, and operational data to identify performance improvement opportunities.
  • A demonstrated understanding of reliability improvement methodologies, root cause analysis, and risk-based maintenance practices.
  • Experience working within Management of Change (MOC) frameworks and implementing sustainable engineering improvements.
  • Knowledge of maintenance planning, maintenance strategies, and lifecycle asset management principles.
  • An unwavering commitment to safety, risk management, and continuous improvement.
  • Well-developed communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to collaborate across technical and operational teams.
  • Experience with SAP maintenance management systems will be viewed favourably.
  • A proactive, self-motivated approach combined with a strong team orientation and continuous learning mindset.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Lead defect elimination activities and reliability improvement initiatives across the mobile fleet maintenance function.
  • Analyse equipment condition monitoring and performance data to identify emerging risks, recommend corrective actions, and enhance equipment reliability.
  • Develop, review, and optimise maintenance strategies, task lists, procedures, critical controls, and work instructions.
  • Support maintenance budgeting activities and provide technical input into asset management and reliability planning processes.
  • Evaluate equipment capability, performance trends, and infrastructure requirements to support production and maintenance objectives.
  • Develop business cases and engineering justifications for reliability improvement projects and assist with project initiation and delivery.
  • Manage engineering requests through approved Management of Change (MOC) processes to improve equipment safety, availability, and performance.
  • Collaborate with Maintenance and Engineering Centre of Excellence (MECoE), operations, supply, projects, contractors, and execution teams to improve maintenance outcomes.
  • Validate maintenance plans and monitor the effectiveness of reliability initiatives to ensure intended outcomes are achieved.
  • Contribute to capability development by providing input into training strategies, learning content, and skill development initiatives for maintenance teams.

Work Location

This role is based at Olympic Dam, South Australia, operating on a 5/2 residential roster or 5/2, 4/3 FIFO roster from Adelaide.
