Job summary

City of Tea Tree Gully is seeking a Projects and Assets Engineer to lead planning and design of civil, lighting and stormwater assets, helping the council meet its strategic targets.

Reporting to the Coordinator Technical Services, you will deliver stormwater design, hydrological modelling and prepare reports for stakeholders, including Council and Committees, while contributing to asset management planning.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or diploma in Civil Engineering.
  • Current Class C Drivers Licence.
  • Willingness to obtain DHS General Employment Probity.
  • Willingness to undergo a pre-employment medical.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and design civil, lighting and stormwater assets.
  • Provide high level customer service to the public on civil, stormwater and lighting issues.
  • Provide technical engineering guidance to civil operations staff on maintenance problems.
  • Deliver in-house stormwater design and hydrological modelling for infrastructure projects.
  • Prepare reports for stakeholders including Council and Committees.
  • Review and manage the Asset Management Plan for stormwater assets and annual programs.
  • Provide expert advice to Council Elected Members and various stakeholders on civil and stormwater planning.
  • Ensure planning aligns with regional, state or federal planning.
  • Advise City Development team on technical engineering requirements ensuring compliance with policy and standards.
  • Assess engineering plans from developers and provide expert guidance.
  • Develop policies and procedures for civil infrastructure assets and review technical drawings and standards.

Job Description

Reporting to the Coordinator Technical Services the Projects and Assets Engineer is responsible for the planning and design of civil, lighting and stormwater assets, and ensuring council's strategic targets are met. The key aspects of the role include

  • Provide a high level of customer service to members of the public that interact with Council in relation to civil, stormwater and lighting issues.
  • Provide technical engineering guidance and aid civil operations staff in coordinating complex maintenance problems.
  • Deliver in-house stormwater design and hydrological modelling across a range of infrastructure projects
  • Carry out investigations and provide technical and engineering solutions, which include preparing reports for stakeholders, including Council / Committees.
  • On-going review and management of the Asset Management Plan for stormwater assets, including preparation of annual programs based on asset management principles.
  • Provide expert advice to Council Elected Members, community members, government agencies and various customers or stakeholders on matters relating to civil and stormwater planning at all scales.
  • Ensure that planning for the City is undertaken in the context of larger scale planning occurring at a regional, state or federal level.
  • Provide expert advice and guidance to Council's City Development team relating to technical engineering requirements ensuring compliance with legislations, Council policy and industry best practice.
  • Undertake assessments of engineering plans from developers of a technical nature, providing expert advice and facilitating best practice development.
  • Develop relevant policies and procedures in relation to civil infrastructure assets and regularly review technical engineering drawings, specifications and standards.

  • Bachelor's degree or diploma of Civil Engineering or related discipline
  • Current Class C Drivers Licence

Salary range is between $95,585 and $108,312 plus superannuation guarantee and will be negotiated commensurate with skills, experience and qualifications.
