Job summary

Future Generation Joint Venture, based in NSW, Australia, is seeking a Project Engineer to lead onsite technical matters, coordinate multi-discipline teams and ensure safety, quality and schedule adherence on the Snowy 2.0 project. You will manage design coordination, cost planning and subcontractor performance.

Ideal candidates have a civil engineering degree, White Card, a valid driver’s license and at least 5 years in marine construction or dredging projects with strong MS Office skills and

Responsibilities

  • Develop construction methodologies, programme and SWMS for packages
  • Lead delivery of excavation, ground support and dredging works
  • Oversee construction methods onsite with Senior Project Engineer
  • Monitor productivity and costs weekly/monthly
  • Procure permanent materials/subcontracts
  • Ensure clear responsibilities and develop team members
  • Manage short/medium construction planning including 6WLAH
  • Manage subcontractors and ensure safety and quality buy-in
  • Develop QAQC Lot Maps
  • Coordinate construction activities to meet time, budget and quality requirements
  • Prepare and coordinate projects' engineering deliveries
  • Ensure compliance with codes, QA/QC and specifications
  • Interact daily with clients to interpret needs and represent on-site
  • Provide technical support to project manager and team
  • Review deliverables and initiate corrective actions
  • Coordinate mobilization of personnel, equipment and materials
  • Prepare variations and pricing
  • Coordinate with design, safety, quality, community and environmental deliverables
  • Produce related studies or method statements
  • Monitor progress and report delays or interference
  • Liaise with client reps, engineers and supervision on permits and docs
  • Ensure systems and procedures comply with standards

Job description

The Future Generation Joint Venture brings together the combined engineering experience and expertise of WeBuild, Clough and Lane and has been selected to design construct Snowy 2.0. This project is based within the Snowy Mountains in NSW and will deliver one of the largest pumped hydro schemes in the world.

Snowy 2.0 is the next chapter in the Snowy Scheme's history. It is the largest committed renewable energy project in Australia and will provide on-demand energy and large-scale storage for many generations to come. This Iconic Project has and will continue to create its own legacy in Australian history.

Purposeof the Role:

Tobe responsible forall onsite technical matters including construction verification works. You will schedule, monitor, plan, forecast, resource and manage all the technical activities aiming at assuring project accuracy and quality.

Assistthe construction department in the coordination of efficient operation of a multi-discipline workforce, combining direct workforce, supplementary labour, and external subcontractors. Coordinate and ensure compliance of all relevant design, safety, quality, community, environmental and sustainability related deliverables and documentation.

Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering

Experience:

Minimum 5-years’ experience working in theMarineConstruction& Dredgingindustry on large scale projects or other suitable projects works – preferred.

Advanced MS Office skills

Competence in interpreting and explaining technical schedules and documentation.

Demonstrated experience in planning and reporting against cost and time.

Strong understanding of programme management, deadlines, and budget controls

High level verbal and written communication skills

Demonstrated ability to work successfully and autonomously within a fast-paced project environment and deliver on deadlines.

Strong attitude and awareness of safety and focus and commitment to azero-harmenvironment.

Proven experience in successfully delivering large work packages with Tier 1 construction contractors.

Prior experience indredging,underwaterdrill and blast, ground support and stabilisation works are preferred.

Proven working experience as a Project Engineer with a T1 delivery large-scale civil infrastructure.

Familiarity with Australian Standards, Codes of Practice and WHS Legislation

Ability to work with multiple discipline projects.

Decision making ability and leadership skills.

Time management and organization skills

Advanced commercial acumen including cost reduction and meeting budgets.

Verification of subcontractors' claims and variations

Effective management of work programmes and performance of teams and subcontractors to achieve project outcomes.

Core Accountabilities and Responsibilities:

Develop construction methodologies,programmeand SWMS for given packages

Leading the delivery of packages of stage3excavation, groundsupportanddredging works, while coordinating with the wider project team

Oversee the development and implementation of construction methods onsite in consultation with the Senior Project Engineer and Construction Superintendent

Daily, weekly, and monthly productivity and cost monitoring and reporting

The procuring of permanent materials/Subcontracts

Ensure Site Engineers, and subordinates, are clear on their responsibilities – provide regular feedback to ensure effective performance and develop team members for succession opportunities.

Manage the short/medium construction planning for the works including development of 6WLAH.

Manage subcontractors, suppliers, and key project personnel and ensure buy in to safety and quality strategies.

Develop QAQC Lot Maps

Coordinate and administer construction engineering activities to ensure that the project is safely deliveredin accordance withtime, budget, and quality requirements.

Prepare, schedule, coordinate andmonitorthe assigned engineering projects.

Monitor compliance to applicable codes, practices, QA/QC policies, performancestandardsand specifications

Interact daily with the clients to interpret their needs and requirements and represent them in the field.

Cooperate and communicate effectively with project manager and other project participants to provide technical support.

Review engineering deliverables andinitiateappropriate correctiveactions.

Preparation and coordination of personnel, equipment, and materials to ensure effective mobilisation to the site.

Undertake the preparation of variations including taking off quantities and pricing.

Coordinate and ensure compliance with all design, safety, quality, community and environmental related deliverables and documentation.

Produce any related studies or documentation and method statements asrequired.

Monitor, document and report, physical progress against schedule and any delays/interference which may have affected progress.

Liaise with client representatives, Senior Project Engineers, ProjectEngineersand Site Supervision in relation to permits to work, JHA’s, ITP, and any other requirements to enable thetimelycompletion of the work.

Ensure that all systems procedures, statutory requirements, engineeringstandardsand sound construction practices are alwayscomplied with.

Ensure all day works, variations and other claims and accurately recorded and reported and liaise with contract administration to ensure all financial entitlements of the company are protected.

Actively pursue any gaps in engineering information that “may” leave the companyexposed, oralternatively propose and agree through the proper channels a solution to the problem.
