Job summary

SMEC in Sydney is seeking an Engineer - Drainage & Flooding, Roads & Highways with 2+ years of experience to join our Sydney team. This permanent role supports major infrastructure projects across NSW and nationally, focusing on drainage design and flood modelling within a multidisciplinary team.

You will contribute to technical deliverables, learn from senior engineers, and grow within aCollaborative environment that values detail and client satisfaction.

Qualifications

The Role

We are currently seeking an Engineer - Drainage & Flooding, Roads & Highways with experience in transport or infrastructure projects to join our Sydney team. This is a permanent opportunity supporting the delivery of major infrastructure projects across NSW and nationally. With a strong pipeline of work, we are looking for a Drainage professional with an interest in drainage design and flood modelling to contribute to a highly capable multidisciplinary team. With 2+ years’ experience, this is an opportunity to further develop your technical skills, working alongside experienced engineers to deliver high-quality analysis and design outcomes that meet client and industry standards. You will have gained your experience within an engineering consultancy (or similar environment) and bring a collaborative mindset, strong attention to detail, and a willingness to learn and grow within the discipline.

About You

• Degree qualified – Bachelor of Engineering (Civil Engineering or similar)
• 2+ years of Australian experience in drainage design and stormwater management
• Exposure to infrastructure projects (roads, highways, rail or urban development)
• Familiarity with Austroads Part5,5A &5B and Australian Rainfall and Runoff guideline2019
• Working knowledge of 12d Dynamic Drainage Analysis
• Ability to contribute to technical deliverables and support project teams in meeting deadlines and budgets
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
• A proactive attitude and willingness to learn from senior engineers
