Job description

Engagement Lead - Hunter Transmission Project

At Transgrid, we’re helping shape Australia’s energy future by building and maintaining the transmission infrastructure that powers homes, businesses and communities. As the energy transition accelerates, we’re delivering some of the nation’s most significant infrastructure projects to create a stronger, smarter and more sustainable electricity network. This is an opportunity to contribute to work that will have a lasting impact for generations to come.

About The Role

By joining the Hunter Transmission Project, you will be part of unlocking the electricity supply that will provide the backbone of NSW’s new electricity grid for generations to come. As coal-fired power stations close, the Hunter Transmission Project is critical for energy security in NSW. This is a chance to join a transformative, multi-year project.

As Community Engagement Lead, you'll play a key role in shaping and delivering community and stakeholder engagement strategies that support project approvals, construction delivery and long-term social licence for the project. You'll build trusted relationships, navigate complex stakeholder environments and help deliver positive outcomes for communities and the project.

What You’ll Do

  • Develop and deliver community and stakeholder engagement strategies that support project approvals, construction activities and long-term project outcomes.
  • Build trusted relationships with communities, councils, government agencies, landowners, industry groups and other key stakeholders.
  • Lead community consultation, engagement programs and community investment initiatives across the project lifecycle.
  • Identify, manage and mitigate stakeholder and community risks, issues and enquiries.
  • Provide specialist engagement advice and support project teams, consultants and delivery partners to achieve successful project outcomes.

What You’ll Bring

  • Demonstrated experience in community and stakeholder engagement within major infrastructure, utilities, energy, construction or related project environments.
  • Experience developing and implementing community engagement, stakeholder management and communications strategies.
  • Strong communication, facilitation, relationship-building and negotiation skills.
  • Experience managing complex, high-profile or sensitive stakeholder issues across multiple stakeholder groups.
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Communications, Public Relations, Community Engagement, Social Science, Planning or a related discipline.
  • Current White Card and NSW driver licence, or willingness to obtain.

Why This Role?

This is more than a stakeholder engagement role. It’s an opportunity to help shape one of New South Wales’ most significant energy infrastructure projects and play a meaningful role in Australia’s clean energy transition.

You’ll work alongside experienced project, approvals and engagement professionals who genuinely collaborate to achieve outcomes for communities and the project. Together, you'll help deliver critical infrastructure that will support future generations while ensuring communities have a voice throughout the project lifecycle.

This is purpose-driven work where your contribution will have visible impact. You'll be empowered to build meaningful relationships, influence project outcomes and continue to grow your greatness through exposure to one of Transgrid’s most significant transmission projects.
