Job summary

OptiGrid in Australia is seeking an Energy Trading Specialist to lead the trading voice within our product team. You will shape the automated bidding strategy for NEM projects and work closely with data science and engineering to convert market insights into concrete product decisions.

You will own the trading product roadmap, onboard new customers, and represent OptiGrid at industry events. A hybrid Sydney/Adelaide role with regional flexibility awaits the right candidate.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in the NEM across spot trading, trading operations or autobidding software.
• Experience overseeing or shaping an automated bidding platform, whether on a trading desk or at a vendor.
• Deep understanding of dispatch and pricing, bidding and rebidding, FCAS, network constraints and the drivers of market outcomes.
• A good grasp of market forecasting and battery optimisation, and how they translate into bids.
• Be able to explain complex trading concepts to energy traders, asset owners and investors alike.
• High ownership and comfort with ambiguity.
• Experience with offtake and hedge structures such as virtual tolling agreements, caps and PPAs.
• SQL and Python sufficient to explore data independently.
• Product management or vendor-side customer experience.
