Job summary

Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO) is driving the design of Australia’s power system. The System Planning team leads the Integrated System Plan, a 20-year roadmap guiding the east coast electricity network and major investments through advanced modelling.

This permanent role in the System Design division offers flexible work options, stakeholder engagement, and high-quality reporting to help deliver a secure, reliable and renewable-powered energy future for Australia.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in relevant disciplines (maths, OR engineering, physics, etc).
• Experience with power systems analysis tools and ability to run load flow and fault level calculations.
• Strong report writing and ability to present to external stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support on electricity planning and performance issues for safe, secure operation of the power system.
• Contribute to planning documents (e.g. Integrated System Plan, Electricity Statement of Opportunities).
• Develop procedures and methodologies for planning studies and activities.
• Engage with stakeholders and prepare advice for supervisors and management on network planning matters.
• Prepare high-quality reports on network capability and performance for management and project teams.
• Develop knowledge of the electrical transmission network, generation in the NEM, and gas market transmission.
