Job summary

Datacom in Melbourne seeks an Endpoint Engineering Specialist/SOE Engineer to manage day-to-day endpoint systems with minimal direction while engaging in projects. You’ll focus on improving customer experience, maintaining OS images, and leading deployments across enterprise environments.

Ideal candidates have 2+ years in SOE migrations and MECM, strong Intune and AVD skills, and a proactive, service-oriented mindset within a MSP context.

Qualifications

  • Related experience in endpoint engineering and SOE management.
  • Experience working for a Managed Service Provider is preferred.
  • Strong technical knowledge of Microsoft Intune including Autopilot Deployment and Development.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM).
  • Strong knowledge of Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) and Active Directory with GP.
  • Scripting ability using PowerShell, VBScript, or Batch.
  • Experience with Windows 10 task sequencing and large enterprise deployments.
  • Familiarity with Windows Modern Desktop technologies and MECM migrations.
  • Minimum 2+ years in SOE migrations, projects, and implementation; 1+ years MECM.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain, upgrade, and enhance environment configurations including user/device/security policies.
  • Manage endpoint policies, firmware, drivers, and automation scripts via enterprise tools (Intune).
  • Ensure high customer satisfaction with timely responses to inquiries.
  • Operate in a high-performing team culture and contribute to success.
  • Identify service improvements, efficiencies, and cost reductions for customers.
  • Follow ITIL-aligned change and release practices.
  • Perform hardware and OS upgrades as required.
  • Maintain deployed desktop OS images (physical and virtual).
  • Lead projects as needed and provide documentation updates (designs, how-tos, risk registers).
  • Occasional travel to Datacom, customer sites, and conferences when required.

About the Role (your why)

The Endpoint Engineering team assists companies by supporting their environments day to day and recommending best practices to follow and implement. The team designs, builds, supports, and continuously improves end user solutions end to end, enabling our customers to transform their business and modernise their end user experience. You will problem-solve technical issues for customers to show how these products can make businesses more productive, collaborative, and innovative. As an Endpoint Engineering Specialist/SOE Engineer you will manage the day-to-day operations of the Customers endpoint systems with minimal direction and engage in project work when they arise. You will have a key focus on ensuring an exceptional customer experience to Datacom’s endpoint customer base.

Please note to be successful in this role you would need to be an AU Citizen and able to obtain a Baseline or NV1 clearance.

What you will do

As an Endpoint Engineering Specialist/SOE Engineeryou will be focused on:

  • Maintenance, upgrades, and enhancements of environment wide configurations including user policies, device policies, security policies, firmware, drivers, and automation scripts through enterprise grade endpoint management platforms (Intune)

  • Ensure outstanding levels of customer satisfaction by demonstrating timely, professional, and attentive responses to customers and colleagues

  • Operate in, and contribute to the winning culture of a high performing team

  • Identify service improvements, efficiencies and/or cost reductions for Datacom customers

  • Follow best practice methodologies and adhere to recognised ITIL processes (e.g., change/release).

  • Perform upgrades on applicable hardware and operating systems as required/requested

  • Provide maintenance and enhancements of deployed desktop operating system images (physical and virtual)

  • Assist with projects as required and act as the lead

  • Provide continuous high-quality upkeep of supporting documentation such as Designs, As-Builts, How-tos, environment reporting, risk registers, tickets, and roadmap lifecycles

  • Occasional travel to Datacom, customer sites and conferences when required.

What you will bring

Required experience:

  • Related experience in endpoint engineering and SOE management
  • Related experience working for a Managed Service Provider
  • Strong Technical Knowledge of Microsoft Intune including Autopilot Deployment and Development
  • Strong technical knowledge of Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager
  • Strong technical knowledge of Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD)
  • Strong technical knowledge of Active Directory – Group Policy Management

  • Experience with facilitating large and enterprise scale software deployments
  • Exceptional knowledge of Windows Modern Desktop technologies
  • Minimum 2+ years’ experience in SOE migrations, projects, and implementation
  • Minimum 1+ years’ experience in MECM
Nice to have:
  • Citrix experience
  • Experience with M365 would be advantageous
  • Good working knowledge of networking and TCP/IP, AD, DHP, DNS, certificate services and Enterprise applications
