Job summary

Datacom is seeking an experienced Endpoint Engineering Architect to design and maintain robust desktop SOE environments, enabling remote support and standardisation.

You will mentor engineers, support modern management methods, and drive improvements across Windows endpoints, cloud services, and hybrid hosting while collaborating with customers to transform their environments.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of hardware and software vendor support processes, including product lifecycle.
• Advanced End User Management experience.
• Knowledge of modern and traditional SOE management methodologies.
• Good financial management practices.
• Analytical and problem solving skills, as well as good judgement.
• Adherence to budget, schedule, work plans, and performance requirements.
• Proven communication and negotiation skills.
• Effective presentation, consultative and planning skills.

Responsibilities

• The Endpoint Engineering Architect will be a point of escalation and provide mentoring and coaching to engineers.
• Cover end user solutions including SCCM, Intune, JAMF, and related technologies.
• Configure and deploy Windows end user operating systems and core infrastructure services.
• Support hybrid cloud and on‑premises hosting technologies (vCenter/Hyper‑V) and Citrix/Azure Workspaces.
• Work with clients to align cloud‑first productivity and collaboration strategies.
• Drive continuous improvement in customer environments.

About The Role (your Why)

Our Endpoint Engineering team is responsible for creating and maintaining robust desktop Standard Operating Environments (SOE) for our customers, enabling remote support and ensuring standardisation across diverse IT landscapes. As the Endpoint Engineering Architect, you’ll work closely with customers to transform their businesses in line with cloud-first productivity and collaboration solutions as part of their digital transformation journey. You will also provide expert advice, develop ongoing processes, and help drive continuous improvement in customer environments.

Our offices are based in Adelaide, Brisbane, Canberra, Melbourne and Sydney. We like to bring people together in person when we can, but we are mindful of the benefits of working from home for work/ life balance. We therefore leave it to you and the team you join to figure out what works best!

What You’ll Do

The Endpoint Engineering Architect will be a point of escalation and provide mentoring and coaching to engineers. The following provides an overview of the end user solutions which we are seeking competence in (but not limited to):

• A strong understanding of Enterprise endpoint management solutions (SCCM, Intune and JAMF )
• A strong understanding of Microsoft Windows end user operating systems configuration and deployment
• A strong understanding of core Microsoft Supporting Infrastructure services (AD, Group Policy and users and computers)
• Experience with AvePoint baseline
• A good understanding of core Microsoft Supporting Infrastructure services (DHCP, DNS, PKI, Print Services, File Services, Exchange, SharePoint)
• Microsoft Windows end user operating systems configuration & deployment (in both traditional and modern management approaches).
• Endpoint security technologies (such as Microsoft's Defender for Endpoint, Symantec, CrowdStrike)
• A strong understanding of VDI and DaaS solutions including Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops, Amazon Workspaces, Azure Virtual Desktop and Windows 365.
• A strong can do attitude
• Working knowledge of Microsoft supplementing competitor solutions such as, Patch My PC , Aternity, Ivanti App Control and Airlock Digital.
• Public cloud exposure such as Azure and AWS as well as background in traditional on-premises hosting technologies (vCenter and/or Hyper‑V) and supporting hybrid cloud technologies.

What You’ll Bring

We are looking for someone with 8 years of IT industry experience plus experience in an Endpoint Architect role. You are passionate about your work, proactive, client‑focused and believe in customer service as a point of differentiation in a service offering. You can work both independently on competing priorities and as part of a team, maintaining high relationship building skills.

The ideal candidate will have experience in the following areas:
