Job summary

Challenge Community Services in Edgeworth, NSW, is seeking a casual Support Worker for Newcastle/Maitland Community Supports. You will assist clients with disabilities to build skills, confidence and independence through in-home and community activities.

Duties include helping with daily living, cooking, crafts, sport and outings, with some shifts in afternoons, evenings and sleepovers. You’ll work under the SCHAD Award Level 2 framework and follow tailored support plans.

Qualifications

• Certificate III or IV in Disability Support (or equivalent) desirable.
• Current Australian Driver’s Licence and WWCC.
• NDIS Worker Screening Check and National Criminal History Check obtainable.
• Experience supporting high-needs disability clients.
• Access to a personal vehicle for work if required.

Responsibilities

• Support clients with daily living and medical needs as required.
• Encourage independence through activities like cooking, crafts, music, sport and reading.
• Provide in-home and community-based support tailored to individual goals.
• Build positive, respectful relationships with clients and families.
• Handle challenges with empathy, patience and problem-solving.
• Actively support participants in outdoor activities, swimming, sewing/knitting.
