Job summary

Geelong-based Apexx Support Services is seeking passionate Disability Support Workers to empower people with disabilities to live independently. This casual role offers flexible hours across mornings, afternoons, evenings and overnights, with ongoing training and support.

You will provide personalised support with daily living activities, develop individualised plans, promote community participation and advocate for client wellbeing.

Qualifications

• A genuine passion for supporting individuals with disabilities and a commitment to their empowerment and inclusion
• A Certificate III or IV in Disability, Community Services, or a related field, or a willingness to obtain these qualifications
• Experience in the disability or aged care sector, with a demonstrated understanding of person-centred support practices
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust and rapport with clients
• Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with a flexible and adaptable approach
• A can do attitude, and a willingness to learn new skills
• A valid driver's licence and reliable transportation to access client locations
• A current First Aid certificate and Criminal History Check
• Confidence/ willingness to learn the skills to support people who experience behaviours of concern
• Broad availability for a range of varied work hours

Responsibilities

• Provide personalised support and assistance to individuals with disabilities, helping them with daily living activities, personal care, and social participation
• Develop and implement individualised support plans to meet the unique needs and goals of each client
• Engage clients in meaningful activities, outings, and community involvement to promote their independence and integration
• Advocate for the rights and interests of clients, ensuring their wellbeing and dignity are prioritised
• Maintain detailed documentation and records of client progress and service delivery
• Collaborate with the broader care team, including healthcare professionals, to ensure coordinated and comprehensive support
