Job summary

Hastings Secondary College Westport Campus is seeking a School Learning Support Officer (2) to assist students with learning needs in classrooms and other spaces under teacher supervision. The role includes student welfare and wellbeing activities and may involve support across pre-school, vision/hearing, and bilingual streams.

Essential requirements include a Working with Children Check, mandatory Department of Education training, and willingness to undertake first aid training.

Qualifications

• Working with Children Check Clearance is required.
• Mandatory training as directed by the Department of Education and first aid training willingness.
• Administration of Medications – training provided based on student needs.
• Health support training to be provided based on student needs.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Ability to work with students with emotional, physical or intellectual disabilities.

Responsibilities

• Provide support for students with identified learning needs in classrooms and other learning environments under teacher direction.
• Support student welfare, health and wellbeing activities as required.
• Assist with streams/settings such as pre-school, vision/hearing support, and bilingual contexts.
• Contribute to achieving educational outcomes for students.
