Job summary

Stellar Recruitment AU and NZ is seeking a dedicated professional to lead the emergency response function at a major underground coal site in Queensland. The role reports to the Compliance Manager and ensures emergency systems, teams and equipment are not only compliant but fit for purpose in a modern mining environment.

You will drive training, supervise Mines Rescue activities and provide guidance across both underground and surface operations, contributing to a safer, more resilient site

Qualifications

• Must have coal mining experience and Mines Rescue/Emergency Response background.
• Cert IV in Training & Assessment is required.
• Fire Officer certification and current First Aid are essential.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and maintain Mines Rescue capability in line with legislative requirements.
• Act as site Fire Officer and fulfil all associated statutory obligations.
• Oversee all emergency response equipment (First Aid, firefighting, rescue).
• Drive training and competency across site for emergency response personnel.
• Monitor, report and continuously improve emergency preparedness systems.
• Provide technical and practical guidance across underground and surface operations.

I'm currently representing a major underground coal operator in Queensland with a long-life asset, significant capital investment and a clear mandate to set the benchmark for safety & emergency preparedness.

This is a site gearing up for sustained production over the next two decades, backed by a global business and driven by a leadership team focused on doing things properly from day one.

The Opportunity

This is a pivotal role sitting within the compliance function, responsible for owning and driving all emergency response capability across site.

Reporting into the Compliance Manager, you'll take the lead on ensuring emergency systems, teams and equipment are not just compliant but genuinely fit for purpose in a modern underground mining environment.

The position operates on a 9-day fortnight with the option of a FIFO arrangement or a residential setup supported by a housing allowance & relocation support to the Moranbah/Nebo region if required.

What You'll Be Responsible For
