Job summary

NSW Health is seeking a Trainee - Stage 1 in the Emergency Department to provide clinical care under supervision for adult and paediatric patients. The role offers experience in a critical care setting with opportunities for autonomous practice appropriate to experience.

The successful candidate will supervise and teach Junior Medical Officers and Medical Students, with potential involvement in research where appropriate.

Qualifications

• MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia in an appropriate registration category.
• Proof of English language proficiency if not Australian University qualified or evidence of English proficiency requirements within three months of application.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team with an understanding of roles of doctor and healthcare team.
• ALS2 certificate preferred or commitment to complete within 12 months of appointment; ability to recognise acutely unwell patient and initiate immediate management.
• At least three years' post graduate experience in public hospital service (or equivalent)
• Excellent organisational and time management skills in a complex environment.
• Commitment to quality improvement, patient safety and risk management.
• Willingness to work across facilities within the Network and participate in 7 day per week 24-hour shift roster.

Responsibilities

• Provide clinical care in Emergency Department under supervision for adults and paediatric patients.
• Supervise and participate in teaching Junior Medical Officers and Medical Students.
• Contribute to teaching and research where appropriate.
• Work in a complex clinical environment with autonomous practice commensurate with experience.
