Emergency Department Clerk | Where Every Detail Supports Every Patient!

As an Emergency Department Clerk at Flinders Medical Centre or Noarlunga Health Service, you’ll be the steady administrative presence behind some of South Australia’s busiest EDs — registering patients, managing records, and keeping critical information flowing accurately when it matters most. These part-time contracts offer real flexibility while placing you at the centre of a high-performing clinical team within the Southern Adelaide Local Health Network. If you bring sharp attention to detail, a calm head under pressure, and a genuine commitment to patient care, this is your opportunity to make a meaningful contribution every single shift.

About the role:

In this role, you will provide professional and efficient clerical support within the Emergency Department at Flinders Medical Centre or Noarlunga Hospital. Your primary responsibility will be to coordinate the registration of all patients presenting to the department, as well as facilitating admissions and supporting discharge processes where required.

The Emergency Departments at both sites operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week. As such, this role requires availability to work across a 24/7 roster, including weekends and public holidays.

Duties for the role will include:

  • Registration, using the computer data base, of all patients presenting for treatment including interviewing in the treatment areas of Emergency and identification of customer and patient needs,
  • Ensuring all documentation is accurate and completed in a professional and timely manner and is in accordance with any organisational and/or legislative requirements where applicable,
  • Processing patient admissions to the wards according to procedures,

  • Always acting in a professional manner when dealing with internal and external clients

About you:

  • Ability to organise and prioritise work and to meet deadlines,
  • Understanding of, and commitment to, patient confidentiality requirements,
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a range of people including patients, their families, ambulance officers, medical and nursing staff and police officers,
  • Experience working in an area of public contact,
  • Experience working with computer systems.
