Job summary

Alstom in Sydney, Australia is seeking an Electronics Maintenance Technician within the Maintenance Services team. Based in Rouse Hill, you will diagnose, repair and service advanced onboard electronic systems across multiple train fleets to ensure safe, reliable operations.

You will utilise test equipment such as oscilloscopes and multimeters, perform PCB diagnostics and conduct hardware/software upgrades while documenting maintenance activities and adhering to safety standards.

Qualifications

• Experience with electronic test and diagnostic equipment.
• PCB diagnostics, soldering and rework.
• Ability to diagnose and repair advanced electronic systems.
• Familiarity with safety-focused maintenance environments.

Responsibilities

• Investigate, diagnose and repair advanced electronic systems at component level.
• Use specialised diagnostic tools to resolve faults across train fleets.
• Perform hardware and software modifications and system validations.
• Maintain workshop test equipment and diagnostic assets for efficient fault diagnosis.
• Produce repair reports and maintenance records in line with requirements.
• Collaborate with technically skilled colleagues in a safety-focused environment.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of maintenance practices.

As part of our Maintenance Services team, you'll work with cutting-edge technology, maintaining and repairing critical electronic systems that keep multiple train fleets running safely and reliably. Every day brings a new challenge as you diagnose, troubleshoot and restore a diverse range of advanced onboard systems.

We’ll look to you for:

• Investigating, diagnosing and repairing advanced electronic systems at component level.
• Utilising specialised diagnostic tools and test equipment to resolve complex faults across multiple train fleets.
• Executing hardware and software modifications, upgrades and system validations to support operational performance and reliability.
• Maintaining and optimising workshop test equipment, fixtures and diagnostic assets to ensure efficient fault diagnosis and repair activities.
• Producing high-quality technical documentation, repair reports and maintenance records in line with engineering and compliance requirements.
• Applying technical expertise to improve system reliability, performance and fleet availability.
• Collaborating with skilled technical professionals within a safety-focused, high-tech maintenance environment.
• Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to enhance maintenance practices, equipment performance and operational outcomes.

• The ability to work independently, manage competing priorities and maintain high-quality outcomes in a fast-paced maintenance environment.
• Strong technical troubleshooting skills with the ability to analyse complex faults, identify root causes and implement effective solutions.
• Experience using electronic test and diagnostic equipment, including oscilloscopes, multimeters, signal generators and other specialised testing tools.
• Experience with component-level repair, PCB diagnostics, soldering and electronic rework techniques.
• Relevant Trade or Engineering qualification.
