Job summary

Precision Electronic Technologies in Melbourne provides contract electronic manufacturing across PCBs, wiring, cables and full turnkey solutions. The role focuses on high-level hand soldering, PCB rework, fault finding and maintaining strict quality standards.

You will work with fine-pitch assemblies, read engineering drawings, and contribute to a collaborative culture with career development opportunities and internal promotions.

Qualifications

• Strong electronics background required.
• IPC-A-610 certification to be current preferred.
• IPC-J-STD-001 and IPC-7711/7721 certifications preferred or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Hand soldering at the highest level for through-hole and surface-mount components.
• PCB rework, modification and repair.
• Fault finding in printed circuit board assemblies.
• Repairing faulty tested boards by hand soldering.
• Identifying unrepairable faults and reporting defects.
• Reading and following assembly drawings and manufacturing documentation.

Qualifications & experience

Applicants must have a strong electronics background

The ability to identify electrical components by name, colour, appearance and determine polarity

Good understanding of Electronic Static Discharge (ESD) controls, handling and storage

IPC-A- 610 certification. (Current certification preferred)

IPC-J-STD- 001 certification preferred or training and experience to the soldering standards

IPC-7711/7721 certification preferred or a strong background in rework and repair to the standard

Five to ten years experience in the industry

Strong attention to detail and a commitment to consistently producing high quality work.

Tasks & responsibilities

Hand soldering, at the highest level, including through hole and surface mount components

PCB rework modification and repair

Fault finding in printed circuit board assemblies.

Repairing faulty tested boards by hand soldering.

Identifying unrepairable faults, soldering defects, workmanship issues and reporting them.

Working with fine pitch assemblies 0201 and small electronic assemblies

Ensuring all Assembly meets quality standards.

Reading and following assembly drawings, work instructions and manufacturing documentation
